Ni-Mn-Sn Heusler alloys exhibit a significant value of magnetocaloric effect. A disadvantage these is their high brittleness in the as-cast state, but ductility can be increased by thermomechanical treatment. The results study thermal treatment for achieving structure Ni44.4Mn36.2Sn14.9Cu4.5 alloy applicable further are presented. It shown that after argon-arc melting and cooling ingot water-cooled copper crucible, characterized two phases quite similar composition have no clear phase boundaries. After homogenization annealing at 860°C 24 hours slow cooling, two-phase state with regions enriched Cu atoms observed. possible to preserve single-phase high-temperature quenching from temperature. In order imitate temperature regime treatment, quenched was subjected 700°C 1 hour cooling. An analysis microstructure shows that, as result, it remains same state. Thus, mode heat alloy, which makes achieve selected.
